Trading timeframes explained: scalping, day, swing, position & investing
This page serves every holding style: use the timeframe toggle at the top of the dashboard to switch the boards from the fastest scalps to long-term investing. Each style is just a different holding period and a different chart timeframe.
The fastest style. Scalpers jump in and out for tiny moves many times a session, reading the 1-minute chart. Our Scalping view ranks the biggest 1-and-5-minute moves, this-minute relative volume, and micro-uptrends right now.
Buying and selling within the same session and rarely holding overnight. The default view: biggest 15-minute movers, unusual relative volume (RVOL), most-alerted tickers, accelerating momentum, and names holding an intraday 200-EMA.
Holding for a multi-day move, carrying overnight, reading the daily chart. Ranks 5-day and 20-day momentum, multi-day volume surges, a trend above the rising 200-day average, and 52-week-high breakouts.
Longer than swing: riding an established trend for weeks or months. Ranks 1-month and 3-month momentum, volume vs the 50-day average, long-term uptrends above the 200-day, and names near a 6-month high.
The longest horizon: buying quality trends to hold. Ranks 3-month and 1-year leaders, long-term uptrends above the 200-day average, and names at or near their 52-week highs.

Stock Market Today FAQ
What stocks are moving today?
This page shows the stocks moving right now: the most-alerted names, biggest 15-minute movers, highest relative volume (RVOL), fastest momentum, and 200-EMA trend leaders, updated live every minute during market hours.
How do I find the best stocks to watch today?
Look for names that appear on more than one board (they glow amber). A stock that is simultaneously a top mover, high on RVOL, and building momentum is showing the strongest confluence of signals to watch.
What does RVOL (relative volume) mean?
RVOL compares a stock’s current volume to its normal volume for the same time of day. A high RVOL (for example 5× or more) means unusual activity, often the earliest sign a stock is about to move.

Request access helpHow often does the data update?
The dashboard refreshes about every 30 seconds and is anchored to live market data during the 4 AM–8 PM ET session, so premarket, regular hours, and after-hours are all covered.
What is the difference between scalping, day trading, swing trading, position trading and investing?
They are the same activity over different holding periods. Scalping is seconds to minutes for tiny moves on the 1-minute chart. Day trading is minutes to hours, closed by the bell, rarely held overnight. Swing trading is several days to a couple weeks on the daily chart. Position trading is weeks to a few months, riding an established trend. Investing is months to a year or more, buying quality trends to hold. Use the timeframe toggle on this page to switch the boards between all five.
What does the Scalping view show?
Scalping is the tightest timeframe: it ranks the biggest 1-minute and 5-minute moves right now, this-minute relative volume versus the recent average, and micro-uptrends (price above its 9-minute average): the fast, in-and-out setups a scalper watches. It is most useful live during market hours.
What do the Position and Investing views show?
Position trading (weeks to months) ranks 1-month and 3-month momentum, volume versus the 50-day average, long-term uptrends above the 200-day average, and names near a 6-month high. Investing (months to a year or more) ranks 3-month and 1-year leaders, long-term uptrends above the 200-day, and names at or near their 52-week highs. Both are filtered to liquid stocks. This is education, not investment advice.

I got tired of bloated, overpriced tools, so I built the ones I actually wanted to use every session. If something looks off, a number seems wrong, or you want a stock or feature added, tell me. I read every message and I keep building.
